Thomas C. Rutherford, 83, 1313 Plantation Drive, Johnson City died Saturday, July 28, 2007 in the Center for Aging and Health in Erwin. Mr. Rutherford was a native of Whitesburg, Kentucky and had lived in Johnson City for many years. He was a son of the late Thomas C. Rutherford, Sr. and Texie Roland Rutherford. Mr. Rutherford was a retired electrician with T.V.A. and a member of the Local # 934 I.B.E.W. He was also a member of the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. Post # 2108 of Johnson City. He was a longtime member of the Berea Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Rutherford is preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Paul Rutherford and Jack Rutherford; one sister, Jeanette Phillips. Survivors include: his wife of fifty-five years, Marie Lilley Rutherford of the home; one son, Charles K. 'Chuck'? and wife Pam Rutherford of Jonesborough; two daughters, Janet L. and husband Terry Dampier of Johnson City and Vickie R. and husband David Thomason of Jonesborough; two brothers, Gene Rutherford and Talbert Rutherford ,both of Jonesborough; seven grandchildren, Annette Dougherty, Steven Green, Cindy Teague, Brenda Green, Kimberly Ingle, Renee Rutherford, and Dylan Rutherford; five great grandchildren, Marcus Teague, Zachary Booth, Ethan Green, David Ingle, and Savannah Daugherty; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Thomas C. Rutherford will be conducted at 8 PM Monday, July 30, 2007 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel with Rev. Jerry Stout , officiating. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 10:30 AM to go in procession. Full Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the VFW Post # 3382 and the Tennessee National Guard of Kingsport. Active pallbearers will be David Thomason, Steven Green, Dylan Rutherford, Mike Rutherford, Cheyenne Lowery and Spence Clay. Honorary pallbearers will be Local # 934 Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and members of Berea F.W.B. Church. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Monday prior to the service. To those who desire, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
