Thomas “Tom” E. Brock, age 90, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital.
Tom was born May 20, 1933, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to the late John C. Brock and Isabel Hamilton Brock. He attended college at McMaster University in Ontario. He also served as a pilot in the Canadian Air Force. Tom worked for several architectural firms over the years as a structural engineer. His career is what relocated him to the United States.
Tom was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was also active in several other organizations, serving as treasurer for the Knights of Columbus Council 4264, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight and he served as a treasurer for Clan Hamilton Society. He was also a member of OSMTJ Knights Templar of America, president of the St. Andrew’s Society, and he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.
In his free time, Tom was a talented woodworker and he enjoyed building and flying remote-controlled airplanes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan and two sisters, Norma Moos and Ellen Donald.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ruth Napier Brock; son, Mike (Mary) Brock; grandchildren, Lisa Henderson and Abigail Brock; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Penelope Joan Henderson; step-daughter, Leslie (Todd) Napier Jones; step-son, Jimmy (Susan) Napier; step-granddaughter, Taylor Jones; step-grandson, Nicholas Jones and his step-grandchildren, Mallory (Tim) Avello, Kasey Keever (and Yiahao Hu); and step-greatgrandchildren, Rosalind and Harrison Avello.
Tom’s family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm, on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will follow, at 1:00 pm, under the direction of Father Dustin Collins. A committal service will commence immediately following the Funeral Mass, at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
