Earl Anderson, 84, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2008, in Johnson City, after several months of declining health. Mr. Anderson was born in Carter County, raised in Bluff City, and lived the rest if his life in Piney Flats. He served his country in the Army during the occupation of Germany after World War II and was an electrician until his retirement.He was instrumental in organizing Piney Flats First Baptist Church fifty years ago and served as a deacon for many years.Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 61 years, Loraine, of the home, daughter, Brenda Bacon and her husband, Mack, Boones Creek; son, Tom of the home; sister, Beryle Rutherford, Maryville; brother, Dana and his wife, Doris, Johnson City; sister, Irene Cass, Fredricksburg, VA sister, Valda Simerly and her husband, Gus, Knoxville; and brother, Homer and his wife, Clara, Land O Lakes, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents Coy and Connie Grindstaff Anderson and his sister, Mammie Anderson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in Johnson City. The funeral will immediately follow at 8:00pm. Dr. Allen Davis and Rev. Reed Mullins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mack Bacon, and Mr. Andersons nephews, Andy Cass, John Cass, Phil Rutherford, Steve Rutherford and David Simerly. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Baird, Euell Goodman, E. A. Harmon, Buck Johnson, Frank Osborne and George Williams. The burial will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Edgefield Cemetery in Piney Flats. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Building Fund of Piney Flats First Baptist Church, 100 Cherry Street, Piney Flats, TN 37686
