Thomas Folsom Tom Lau

March 8, 1951 — January 29, 2016

Thomas 'Tom' Folsom Lau, 64, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016, in the Agape Health and Rehabilitation Center. Tom was a 24 year resident of Johnson City. He was the son of the late J. Francis and Myrtle F. Lau. Tom started attending the Dawn of Hope shortly after moving to Johnson City. During his 24 years at Dawn of Hope he was blessed by the fellowship and guidance of many wonderful friends and staff members. He loved going to his (as he termed it) 'Motor Rec, Rotor Rec' class. Before moving to Tennessee Toms hobbies were playing golf and bowling. After arriving in Johnson City Tom grew to love NASCAR racing and clipping car and motorcycle photos to put in his 'hobby book.' He also loved singing along with music vocals; his favorite song was Amazing Grace. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Marshall Lau. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Jonathan and Barbara Lau of Johnson City; and three nieces, Aimee Lau (John) of Ormond Beach, FL, Charlena Lau Ward (Adam) of Johnson City, and Melissa Loyd of Gray. He had one uncle, Rocky S. Buckles (Olivia) of Johnson City. Tom dearly loved his 11 great nieces and nephews. Toms family will gather at St. Johns Episcopal Church for a private funeral service to celebrate his earthly life with us. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Dawn of Hope for Toms friends and staff members who knew him. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dawn of Hope, 500 East Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601.
