Timothy Stanley Shulas, age 69, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Originally from Somerset, NJ, Tim was born in New Brunswick, NJ on July 17, 1947, the son of Stanley and Helen (Bischoff) Shulas, Sr. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972, serving on the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy. He then graduated Brookdale Community College in 1975, and Rutgers School of Engineering in 1977. He was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force in 1978, and stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH; during which time he received a MA at Central Michigan University. He was also stationed at Hanscom AFB, MA; Kelly AFB, TX; and Ft. Meade, MD. He retired with the rank of Major from the Air Force in 1994, and relocated to Johnson City, TN. He is survived by his daughters Katherine (Katie) Shulas and Elizabeth (Elissa) Shulas, and by his brother Stanley Adam (Mary Ellen) Shulas, Jr. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at St. Mary?s Catholic Church. A Mass will be conducted at 1:00 pm under the direction of Father Peter Iorio. A committal service will follow in Mountain Home National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. Miltary honors will be accorded by the U. S. Air Force. Memorials may be made to St. Mary?s Catholic Church, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601 or any military charity of your choice.
