Tom Carr

November 10, 1931 — June 25, 2013

Tom Carr, age 81, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native and life long resident of Johnson City and the son of the late Emily Smith and Ralph Bolton Carr. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served on the USS Randolph Aircraft Carrier, Squadron VA 46, stationed at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Carr was a life long member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. Early in his career he owned Homes Incorporated (1966-68). Later, he owned the Walnut Street Recreation Center and Tu-La-Fe Night Club. In 1968 he opened Red Pig BBQ and relocated to its current location in 1992. Survivors include: two sons, Hank and Gib Carr, both of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Thomas, Marilou, Alex, Sidney, and Eliza Carr, all of Johnson City; and cousins, Margaret Smith Stubbs, of Tampa, FL, and Carol Carr, of Johnson City.
