Travis Ami Keller

Travis 'Trav'? A. Keller, age 76, of Johnson City passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital after 26 years of a long and hard-fought battle with Parkinsons disease. Trav, a descendant of the original State of Franklin was born in Detroit, Michigan where he lived until he sold his glass business. In 1977, he relocated to Johnson City and incorporated Keller Glasco on East Oakland Ave. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where he chaired the construction of the Fellowship Hall, designed the glass entrance to the church, started a Sunday school class, and served on various committees. He was founder and president of the Northeast Parkinsons Disease Support Group and the Tri-Cities Computer Club, served on the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra board and was a member of the ETSU Friends of the Library Association. Trav was a member of the Johnson City Tuesday Noon Rotary Club, a president of the Evening Rotary Club, and a Paul Harris Fellow for Rotary International. He was active in various glass industry organizations. Trav was a member of the ETSU Foundation, the ETSU Distinguished Presidents Trust Silver Society, and in 2012 was named an Honorary Alumnus of ETSU. He was preceded in death by his parents Pearl Florence McKinney and Travis Cy Keller. Survivors include Linda, his loving wife and partner of 39 years, four children, two daughters, Sherry Keller of TX, Cynthia Playfair, M.D. and husband Paul of TX, two sons, Bradford Keller of NY, and Glen Keller and wife Temple of TN, two granddaughters, Emily and Katherine Playfair of TX and two granddaughters Sarah and Shannon, one step granddaughter Kelsey, and one step grandson, Anthony. Trav fought Parkinsons armed with great determination and a keen sense of humor. The family would like to thank his church family along with the many friends, doctors, and nurses who supported him in his struggle over the years. Visitation will be in the funeral home chapel from 2-4:30 PM and 6:30 to 9 PM, Wednesday, October 9th. A celebration of life service will be conducted from Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church at 10 AM, Thursday, October 10. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dan Simerly, Bill Giacometti, Neil Johnson, David Butler, Paul Horn, and Jeff Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews: Beth and Bruce Boyer, Mark and Julie Jessop, Robin and Carol Go, and cousins: Ronnie and Donna Barrett, Wednesday Morning Emmaus Mens Group, and the Open Door Sunday School Class.
