Valerie Beam

November 26, 1959 — June 26, 2024

Dallas, TX

Valerie Anne Feathers Beam, 64, of Garland, TX, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas following an illness. Valerie was born in Philadelphia, PA, the youngest child of the late Lynn Arthur Feathers and Eva Jean Corzine Feathers. She was a graduate of Westfield High School in Westfield, MA.

Val and her late husband, Ken, founded and managed the VAR-City, a professional and technical services consulting company. A self-described crazy cat lady, Val enjoyed the companionship and love of many cats over the past four decades, and readily took in any stray who appeared on her doorstep seeking a good home. Her sweet and gentle spirit touched those fortunate enough to know her, including the medical community members who cared for her during her cancer treatments. She was a brave and courageous woman with a positive attitude that saw her through many a difficult day. We’ll miss her keen intellect and sharp sense of humor.

In addition to her parents, her husband Kenneth G. Beam and brother Eric L. Feathers preceded her in death.

Valerie leaves to cherish her memory: brothers and sisters-in-law Scott and Cindy Feathers (Fairburn, GA), Craig Feathers and Amy Kolan (Northfield, MN), sister and brother-in-law Janelle and Doug Clark (Atlanta, GA), sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sandi and John Ricardi (Rio Verde, AZ), aunt Loretta Wilson of Smyrna, GA, nephew Brock (Hollie) Feathers of Newnan, GA, nieces Kim (Allen) Russell of Buford, GA, Aleta (Sam) Wild of Northfield, MN, Tessa Kolan (Mike Morelock) of Brooklyn, MN, grand nephews Avery Feathers and Max Wild, grand nieces Jolie Brusch, Kennedy Feathers, Maya Feathers, Ida Wild and Matilda Wild, and numerous cousins. Val enjoyed a deep and meaningful relationship with Becky and Heidi Corzine, and James and Dayanara Gleason.

A service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 11:00a at Washington County Memory Gardens in Johnson City, TN, where she will be laid to rest with her parents. Memorial donations may be made in Val’s honor to the American Cancer Society (or cancer research organization of your choice), or to the East Lake Pet Orphanage (https://www.eastlakepetorphanage.com/).
