We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 Mrs. Vauneva Magdeline Jennings, 88, of Johnson City, passed away in the Four Oaks Health Care Center of Jonesborough on Sunday, February 21, 2016. Mrs. Jennings was born in Scott County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Loyd and Fannie Livesay. Mrs. Jennings was retired from the Johnson City school system as a home school visitor and had taught at Rye Cove School in Scott County. She was a lifetime member of Princeton Presbyterian Church where she served as organist and pianist for many years, also playing the piano for Cash Hollow Church. She was a current member of Heritage Baptist Church. Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Monday Club. She volunteered at the Johnson City Senior Citizen Center where she drove a bus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Ora Everette Jennings; one sister, Brenda Livesay; one infant sister, and three brothers; Ronald, Larry, and Joseph Livesay. Survivors include three sons; Marc S. Jennings and wife Darlene of Hoschton, Ga., C. David Jennings and his wife Jennifer of Chattanooga, Tn., and Samuel C. Jennings and his wife Regina of Jonesborough; two brothers, Lloyd Livesay and wife Willie of Blountville and William Livesay and wife Shirley of Johnson City; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family of Mrs. Vauneva Magdeline Jennings will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Friday, February 26, 2016, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM with Dr. Reggie Weems officiating. The graveside committal service will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
