Vella Mae Bacon

Vella Mae Bacon, 88, formerly of 803 North Baxter Street, died Wednesday, February 08, 2006 at Appalachian Christian Village. Mrs. Bacon was a native of Jonesborough and had lived in Johnson City most of her life. She was a daughter of the late John Albert and Nora McNichol Pursell and was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd C. Bacon in 1994 and one daughter, Jacqueline Lacy in 2001. Mrs. Bacon was a member of the Church of The Brethren. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Peake, Flower Mound, TX; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Peake, Todd Lacy, Audrey Ball all of Dallas, TX and Kevin Peake, Austin, TX and nine great grandchildren all from TX. A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Bacon will be held at 11 AM Monday, February 13, 2006 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pastor Rufus Smith will officiate. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family will receive guests from 2 PM until 4 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
