Mrs. Verna Brantley Donaldson, 83, 2700 Indian Ridge Road Unit 25, Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord Friday November 26, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Donaldson was a native of Nashville, Georgia who had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late Frank Brantley and Lilly Brantley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters, Susie Ace, Pearl Morris, Eva Bass and Lena Bell Martin and one brother, Marion Brantley. Mrs. Donaldson was employed at Nettie Lee and Kings Department Store before retiring from Sears. Mrs. Donaldson was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a member of the Challengers Class and Women On Missions. She also taught the juniors and adult Sunday School Classes. Mrs. Donaldson volunteered in the ICU Waiting Room at the Johnson City Medical Center. Survivors include: her husband of sixty-two years, Bill Donaldson, Sr. of the home; two sons, Bill Donaldson, Jr. and his wife Trish of Johnson City and Herb Donaldson and his wife Cristi of Johnson City; four sisters, Ethel Redish of Valdosta, Ga., Lucille Cox of Monroe, North Carolina, Evelyn Shepard of Jacksonville, Florida and Alma Bucy and her husband Cecil of Dyersburg, TN; three grandchildren, Paige Donaldson, Ashley Watson Yoakley and her husband Gene of Asheville, North Carolina and Padget Watson of Los Angeles, California; one great-grandchild, Isabella Ann-Laren Yoakley. The funeral service for Mrs. Verna Brantley Donaldson will be conducted at 7 PM Monday November 29, 2010 at Trinity Baptist Church. Dr. Mark Harrod and Rev. Robert English will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be the Deacons at Trinity Baptist Church. Ministers, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Tuesday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Monday prior to the service.
