Verna L. Jackson, 85, of Johnson City, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Jackson was a Limestone, TN native and a daughter of the late Roy and Bonita Estep Faulkner. She was retired from employment with Whites Supermarkets. Mrs. Jackson was a member of Piney Flats First Baptist Church. Mrs. Jackson loved to cook and read. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and she devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by: her husband, James G. Jackson; daughter, Susan Harlan; brother, Bobby Faulkner; sister, Lola Mae Lowry; and nephew Bruce Lowry. Mrs. Jackson shared her home with her granddaughter, Jennifer Jackson, great granddaughter, Brandi Miller Hunt, and great-great granddaughter, Kinsley Hunt. She is also survived by: five children, Carolyn Crowe, and her husband Larry, Johnson City, Jimmy Jackson, and his wife Janice, Johnson City, Bobby Jackson, and his wife Sandra, Asheville, NC, Randy Jackson, and his wife Rita, Johnson City, and Lisa Hicks, and her husband Mike, Jonesborough; ten grandchildren, Jamey Jackson, and his wife Paula, Reggie Jackson and Nikki, John Crowe, and his wife Jennifer, Mike Hicks, and his wife Jessica, Brandon Hicks, and his wife Carmen, Andy Hicks, and his wife Katie, Heather Harlan, Michelle Travagilni, and her husband Chris, Matthew Jackson, and Blaze Dion Jackson; brother, Bill Faulkner, Johnson City; and fifteen great grandchildren. Funeral services for Verna L. Jackson will be conducted 8:00 PM Thursday in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel with Dr. Allen Davis officiating. Mrs. Jacksons grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Jimmy Jackson, 3 Creston Court, Johnson City. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for those services.
