Viola Fay Haney

December 11, 1925 — June 11, 2011

Viola Fay Haney, 85, 2102 North Greenwood Drive, went to be with her Lord Saturday, June 11, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Haney was a Mitchell County, NC native who had lived in Johnson City since 1943. She was a daughter of the late Jessie James and Minnie Callahan Bailey. Mrs. Haney was a homemaker. She was a member of Harbor Light Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haney was preceded in death by: her husband, Rev. George Mason Haney; four brothers, Albert, Don, Jim, and Joseph Bailey; and three sisters, Dora Pierce, Martha Beaver, and Fairy Johnson. Mrs. Haney is survived by: one daughter, Kathy Jane Britt, Jonesborough; three sons, Ronald G. Haney, Bulls Gap, Allen L. Haney, Johnson City, and Claude D. Haney, Johnson City; two grandsons, Shannon Haney, Gray, and Brandon Haney, Johnson City; one granddaughter, Cheyenne Compton, Morristown; seven great grandchildren; brother, Emory Bailey, Johnson City, two sisters-in-law, Norma and Zola Bailey, both of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Viola Fay Haney will be conducted at 8:00 PM Monday, June 13, 2011 from the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. David Burrell and Rev. David Snyder will officiate. Pallbearers will be deacons and men of Harbor Light Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for those services. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
