Pearl Dykes Sanders, 84, of 827 Harding Avenue, Johnson City, died Saturday, July 19 2008 at Northside Hospital. She was a native of Washington County, daughter of the late Bill and Josie Freeman Dykes. Pearl was a homemaker. She was of Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bill Sanders in 1962 also a granddaughter, Terri Abbott, three brothers, Glenn, Abe and Vestal Dykes and three sisters, Cleo Bryant, Helen Gibson and Charlene Arnold. Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Sanders, Greg and Angie Sanders; a granddaughter, Robin Sanders all of Johnson City; three great granddaughters, Megan Sanders, Jennifer Slagle and Shelton Abbott; two grandsons, Hunter and Fisher Abbott; three sisters-in-law, Connie Dykes, June Eller and Rhody Penix; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the North Chapel of the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Mark Street. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at eleven. A committal service will be conducted in Roselawn Memory Gardens following the funeral service at approximately 12:00 p.m. Active pallbearers will be: Timmy Henley, Steve Ragan, Jim Thomas, Tony Letterman, John Jennings and Maurice Slagle. Honorary pallbearers will be: Wesley Jones, Jon Bowman, Travis Bowman, Norman Light, Johnathan Zdonowicz, Kacie Letterman, Brandon Hite and all the many children she cared for throughout the years. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law at 603 Woodhaven Drive.
