Violet Reavis Street, 89, Johnson City, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at NHC HealthCare of Johnson City. Ms. Street was a long time resident of Johnson City, and daughter of the late Levi and Pearl Jamerson Reavis. Ms. Street was a homemaker for most of her life and also enjoyed 12 years as an LPN at the former Johnson City Memorial Hospital. She was a charter member of Keystone Free Will Baptist Church, where she especially enjoyed teaching the Young at Heart ladies Sunday school class for many years. Ms. Street was a self-taught quilter and she loved gardening and canning. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: her loving husband of 34 years, Bert William Street, in 1980; an infant son and infant daughter; one baby sister, Texie; one brother, Hosea Reavis; and a beloved aunt who finished raising her after her mother passed away, Juanita Rice. Survived by: two daughters, Phyllis, and her husband, Mike Rash, of Gray, and Teresa, and her husband, Pete Lipps, of Kingsport; two sons, Larry Street, and his wife, Joette, of Jonesborough, and Ron Street, and his wife, Lynda, of Jonesborough; seven grandchildren, David, Christy, Melanie, Danny, Adam, Matthew, and Helen; 15 great grandchildren; one niece, Vickie Reavis, of Des Moines, IA; and extended family in NC. The family of Violet Street will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Please meet at the funeral home by 9:00 AM Thursday morning to go in procession to Monte Vista Memorial Park for 10:00 AM graveside services. The family would like to thank the staff at NHC HealthCare for their care and compassion.
