Virgil E. Turner

Mr. Virgil E. Turner, age 68, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Turner was a native of Wise County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Walter Turner and Minnie Phillips Turner. In addition to his parents one brother, Frank Turner also preceded him in death. Mr. Turner was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years Martha Turner; four sisters, Betty Williams and her husband Larry, Bonnie Sluder and her husband James, Barbara Dingus and Brenda Nave; one brother, Roy Turner and his wife Sandy. Special thanks to his caregivers, Patsy McKee, William McKee, Cynthia Honeycutt and Brandon Honeycutt. The family would like to express a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice and especially to Melinda Shelton. The graveside service for Mr. Virgil E. Turner will be conducted at 3 PM Friday, May 31, 2013 in the Cherokee Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesborough. Mr. Dwayne Baird will officiate. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Friday at Morris-Baker prior to the service. .
