Vivian Louise Grindstaff

Vivian Louise Pierce Grindstaff, 83, Johnson City, died Friday, May 29, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Grindstaff was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late James Henry and Martha Ellen Hughes Pierce. Her husband, Reverend Arthur Grindstaff, her only child, Charlotte Sue Beard in 2003 and one sister, Velva Crumley, preceded Mrs. Grindstaff in death. She was a longtime member and childrens Sunday school teacher of First Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Grindstaff also enjoyed the card ministry. Survivors include one grandson, Jonathan Beard and his wife, Susan, Johnson City; son-in-law, Jackie Beard, Jr., Johnson City, one great granddaughter, Brittnay Beard; one sister, Beatrice Cole, Greene County and a very special cousin and friend, Shirley Ford, Jonesborough and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Grindstaff will be conducted at 8 pm Sunday, May 31, 2009 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Kenneth Grindstaff and Reverend Tony Trott will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 10 am Monday at Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 am and travel in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
