Walter Lee Slone

Walter Lee Slone, 63, Limestone, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Walter was born in Williamson, WV to Gwen J. Holt Slone and the late Thomas C. ?Doc' Slone. He was a member of North Ridge Community Church and retired from Ingram Barge Company. He was a man of many names. All the kids called him ?Pops.' His friends called him ?Howdy.' His coworkers called him ?Lightning.' He created nicknames for everyone close in his life. His true passion was to coach and go to any sports events to support the boys. He loved watching high school football and Tennessee Vols football. He was well known for his sense of humor because he loved to make everyone laugh. Walter was very generous and loved being the community Pops. Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Emmaly W. Slone. Survivors include: three children, Angela Slone, Heather Slone and Zeke Slone; and grandchildren, John ?Xander' Laws, Nolan Rankin, Zarah Cox; two brothers, Thomas ?Mike' Slone and wife Kathy Slone and Chris Slone; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Chakraborty and Jennifer Norton as well as the ICU staff at FWCH. No funeral services will be held, as it was Walter?s wish that his estate be used for others, rather than himself.
