Wayne Billie Smith, Sr.

July 11, 1937 — August 25, 2016

Wayne Billie Smith Sr., 79, of Watauga, died Friday, August 25, 2016 at Cornerstone Village in Johnson City. Wayne was a native of Ball Ground, GA. He was a son of the late Claude Lee and Lillie Josephine Farmer Smith. Wayne proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a car lover and entrepreneur, as well as an antique lover. He loved every aspect of working with cars. He was also a loving family man and proud brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had a caring heart and enjoyed spending time volunteering at the VA. Wayne was a member of Range Community Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Milford, and sisters, Irene, Paulene, Dollie Mae, and Doris. Survivors include his wife, Lois Feathers Smith; four children, Regina Smith, Wayne Billy Smith Jr., Kimberly Smith Cable (Charles), and Julia Scott (Steven); three step children, Todd Pierson, Tony Pierson, and Tracy Phillips; 14 grandchildren, Alicia Sawyer, Steven Scott, Tiffany Shaw, Joshua Strickland, Dustin Smith, Justin Smith, Nicholas Thalmueller, Andrew Cable, Heather Smith, Shawna Phillips, Summar Phillips, David Phillips, Brittney Pierson, and Allison Pierson; 15 great grandchildren, Michael Sawyer Jr., Garrett Sawyer, Aubrey Brock, Steven Scott III, Emma Brock, Lily Scott, Sophia Smith, Brantley Shaw, Logan Scott, Tonya Phillips, Kaylee Pierson, Madison Phillips, Caiden Phillips, Kensley McKeehan, and Karson McKeehan; brother, Richard Smith; sister, Brenda McDonald; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Wayne Billie Smith will receive friends from 5 pm to 8 pm Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 pm Monday, August 29, 2016 at Morris-Baker under the direction of Minister Randy Overdorf. Following the service, family and friends will proceed to Mountain Home National Cemetery for a 2:30 pm committal service. Military honors will be accorded. Pallbearers will be: Steven Scott Jr., Joshua Strickland, Dustin Smith, Justin Smith, Nicholas Thalmueller, Andrew Cable, and David Phillips.
