Werner M. Spodat, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went home to the Lord and was greeted in Heaven by his son, John Spodat, on January 31, 2020.
Werner was blessed to live 83 years. He was a devoted husband of 54 years, a wonderful father of three children, and a proud citizen of the United States after immigrating to the United States from Germany during World War II. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and he was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he served with the Knights of Columbus.
Left to cherish Werner’s memory is his wife, Catherine Spodat; daughters, Patricia (and Deacon Don) Griffith of Johnson City and Stephanie (and John) Mann of Johnson City; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, John Spodat of Watauga.
Werner’s funeral Mass will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (2211 E Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601), under the direction of Father Dustin Collins and Father Peter Iorio. A committal service with military honors will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020. Please meet at the Annex by 10:50 a.m. to go in procession to the committal shelter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Knights of Columbus Council #4264.
