Wesley David Snyder

August 16, 1953 — January 20, 2017

Wesley David Snyder, born August 16th, 1953, in Knoxville, Tennessee, left this life to eternal rest in Johnson City, on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Agape Nursing & Rehab after a lengthy battle with colorectal cancer. The family thanks the staff of Agape for their kindness. Wes was born in Knoxville to the late Samuel D. and Beatrice Gass Snyder. He was a graduate of Central High School class of 1971 and later graduated from University of Tennessee with a degree in Anthropology. He was an avid writer, loved working with horses, and loved the Great Smoky Mountains and the family heritage. In addition to his parents, Wesley was preceded in death by: one grandchild, Bianca Beatrice Rose. Survivors include: one daughter, Tracey Allyn; three grandchildren, Elijah Wagers, Aluma Draper and Lavanah Draper; three sisters, Margo Mullinix and her husband Paul, Julie Wilson and her husband Parks, and Allison Turner and her husband Mark; and several nieces and nephews. Wesley?s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of unit 4 at Life Care Center of Gray, especially nurse Jane. A committal service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN at 12:00 PM. Pallbearers include: Mike Witt, Neal Durfee, Mark Turner, Parks Wilson, Brad Turner and Spencer Turner. Honorary pallbearers include: Joe Piper, John McCampbell and Joe Stone. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to University of Tennessee, Anthropology Enrichment Fund, 137 Alumni Memorial Building, Knoxville, TN 37996.
