Wilburn Lee Thompson Sr., 88 years young of Johnson City, TN passed away peacefully on January, 16, 2025 at his shared home with his daughter and son in law.
Born July 6, 1936, in Mcleansboro, IL, he lived in Lake Elsinore, CA for 28 years where he built his family legacy, but had moved to and fro from Southern and Northern California throughout the years.
In his youth, he was a former USMC Marine (H-3-7) that served in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged. He then started a family with his wife, Mary Vera Lobo. He became a successful HVAC specialist (retiring from Lake Elsinore Unified School District, CA) and a family man with two boys and twin daughters.
He is survived by his twin daughters: Misti L. Wilson and son-in-law, Michael Wilson of Johnson City, TN that opened their home, and whom were primary caregivers for his last years and his other twin daughter, Christi L. Smoak, from San Antonio, TX that gave him 3 beautiful grandchildren: Gabrielle Carlton of Texas, Andrew Smoak of Washinton, and Ashton Smoak of Alabama. "Lee" is also survived by two sisters, Rebecca Moore and Dixie Moye and nephews; Richard Thompson, Gary Thompson, and Lenny Thompson.
Wilburn "Lee" Thompson has waited so very long to be joined with his wife "Toni" and his sons "Rusty" and "Hughie." As hard as he tried, he still loved life with his twin girls and grandchildren. Home is not a place, but a place in your heart. We will always miss you until we are reunited in God's Kingdom. Rest in peace.
