Mr. William 'Burl'? Crawford, age 88, of Johnson City, passed away, Saturday, October 1, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Crawford was a native of Washington County and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late William Alexander Crawford and Stella May Crawford. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one sister, Louise Gray; two brothers, Bernie Crawford and Norman Crawford. Mr. Crawford retired from Smith-Higgins Wholesale Drug Company and was employed by Pine Oaks Golf Course for eighteen years before his illness as a Ranger. He was a faithful member of Brookmeade Church of Christ. He was most happy to be in church services and he enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing golf. Survivors include: his loving wife, Connie Crawford of the home; one son, Darin Crawford and his wife Becky of Jonesborough; one daughter, Amy Crawford of Johnson City; one sister, Mamie Tipton; five grandchildren, Katie Crawford, Lily Crawford, Coby Carson, Caleb Carson and Colin Beason; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. William 'Burl'? Crawford will be conducted at 8 PM Sunday, October 2, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Minister Kevin Kay will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Monday in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 9:15 AM Monday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday prior to the service.
