William Dana 'Bill'? Bowman, 74, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Butler, TN, a son of the late Dana and Danford Grace Bowman. Bill was a Retired Colonel in the U. S. Army. He also was an educator and former principal in the Washington County School System. Bill was a member of the Sinking Creek Baptist Church. He was a pilot and an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Argenbright and a brother, David Bowman who died two days earlier, January 27th, 2013. Survivors include: his son and daughter-in-law, William and Judy Ann Bowman of Johnson City; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Christine Lowe of Johnson City, Sue and David Rowland of Jonesborough, Cara and James Moss of Harriman and Jane Brogdon of Elizabethton; a grandson, Cody Bowman of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 8:00 pm in the North Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Dr. James Harrison. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until time of service at 8:00 pm. A committal service will be conducted on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 1:45 pm. The Boone Dam VFW and Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors. Active pallbearers will be: William Bowman, Jr., Cody Bowman, Jonathan Herrmann, Terry Lowe, Bryan Bowman and David Bowman. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 1:15 pm on Friday at Morris - Baker to leave in procession to Mountain Home National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sinking Creek Baptist Church, 2313 Elizabethton Highway, Johnson City, TN 37601.
