William Glen Simpson

December 21, 1944 — July 18, 2016

William Glen Simpson, 71, Watauga, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Carter County to the late Ed and Hazel Baird Simpson. Mr. Simpson worked at the rock quarry for over 40 years. He was a member of Johnson City Free Will Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by: six sisters, May Painter, Zella Constable, Edna Tester, Sarah Greenwell, Norma Cox and Claudia Simpson. Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Barbara Simpson; two sons, Richard Simpson and Roy Simpson and his wife Ruth; one grandson, Roy Simpson II; two granddaughters, Heather Garland and her husband Ryan and Amanda Knight and her husband Aaron; six great grandchildren, Trenton Knight, Elijah Knight, Brayden Garland, Savannah Knight, Aaliyah Knight and Olivia Garland; two brothers, Ronald Simpson and Larry Simpson and his wife Joyce; several nieces and nephews; and four very special friends, Ann Eller, Melinda Hughes, Nancy Mack and Chanda Hughes. The family of William Simpson will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Morris-Baker. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Charles Fitzsimmons officiating. Pallbearers will be: Roy Simpson II, Dusty Constable, Ryan Garland, Aaron Knight, Eddie Simpson and Michael Greenwell. Honorary pallbearers include: James Ray, Kenneth Ray and Eddie Humphrey. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 AM Thursday to go in procession to Happy Valley Memorial Park for 10:00 AM graveside services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, 2020 Meadowview Pkway, #100, Kingsport, TN 37660.
