William ?Bill' Howard Wise, Sr., 93, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center nursing home. Mr. Wise was a life long resident of Washington County, lived most of his life in Johnson City and was the son of the late Dewey Lee and Oma Della Light Wise. Mr. Wise served in the US Army during WWII, serving in Africa, India, Burma and China. Mr. Wise worked in the auto repair industry for 65 years and was involved in the local stock car racing for many years. Mr. Wise was a former member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and Asbury Presbyterian Church. Mr. Wise was an avid fan of NASCAR and football (following Ole Miss, UT, and other SEC Universities as well as professional football). He also enjoyed reading, water skiing, educational television and hanging out with friends at the mall. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wise is preceded in death by: his wife of 54 years, Lena Bolton Brumit Wise; two sisters, Mary Gladys Wise Rose and Mildred Wise Frye; and one brother, Athan Ray Wise. Survivors include: two daughters, Diane Wise, of Johnson City, and Barbara Wise Looney, and her husband Bill, of Columbia, SC; two sons, William ?Billy' Howard Wise, Jr., and his wife Ginger, of Germantown, TN, and Dr. Timothy C. Wise, and his wife Jayne, of Sevierville, TN; one granddaughter, Katherine Patton Wise, of Austin, TX; one grandson, Dr. Timothy C. Wise, II, of Sevierville, TN; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to especially thank the staff at the Community Living Center hospice care. The family of Bill Wise will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Morris-Baker. The committal service will immediately follow at 2:30 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Joe Brumit, Gen. Fred McCorkle (retired), Mike Potter, Gary Potter, Mark Fox and Mickey Leonard. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Friends from The Mall and HRC staff at The Mall.
