William R. 'Bob' Dunn, 84, formerly of 326 Carroll Creek Road, Johnson City died Saturday, July 15, 2006 at NHC in Johnson City. Mr. Dunn was born in Johnson City on February 5, 1922 to the late Clero Clinton (C.C.) and Addie Jane Buchanan Dunn. He was a 1940 graduate of Science Hill High School where he played on the Hilltopper Baseball Team. Mr. Dunn joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. He graduated from Aircraft Maintenance School in Gulfport, MS and Douglas Aircraft Factory School in Santa Monica, CA. He attained the rank of Sergeant and served in the Air Transport Command of the Alaskan Division in Edmonton, Alberta Canada as Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief. There he played on the U.S. Army Yanks Baseball Team which won the Provincial Championship three years. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church serving as a former Trustee. Mr. Dunn retired from the Johnson City Power Board after forty years of service. He was a past member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.). Mr. Dunn is preceded in death by: his wife Mary Trainor Dunn; a sister, Ethel Lyle; and a brother, Charles Dunn. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Phil Minor of Johnson City; four sons and daughters-in-law, Carl Dunn of Duluth, GA., Alan and Lisa Dunn of Kingsport, Doug and Sandy Dunn of Johnson City, and Michael and Anne Dunn of Piney Flats; six grandchildren, Rebecca Minor, Brian Minor, Matt Dunn, Joshua Dunn, Christopher Dunn, and Adam Dunn; two sisters, Irene Jordan of Johnson City and JoAnn Price of Alexandria, VA; two brothers, Walt Dunn of Orlando, FL. and Jim Dunn of Spruce Pine, NC; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Bob Dunn will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday, July 18, 2006 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Lenny Smith and Rev. Steve Harmon will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Family and Friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the V.F.W. Post # 3382 of Kingsport. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker South Chapel from 6 to 8 PM Monday evening.
