William R. Deyton

August 8, 1942 — January 3, 2007

William R. 'Rit Deyton, 64 of 3706 Timberlake Drive, Apt. 100, Johnson City, died Wednesday, December 3, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Burnsville, NC who had lived most of his life in Johnson City. Son of the late John Wesley Deyton and Mary Tipton and was of the Baptist faith. Rit was in the construction business and loved to camp, fish and the outdoors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Deyton and a sister, Wanda Akers. Survivors include: a daughter, Kathy Heaton and her husband, Billy G. and a son, Richard Deyton all of Johnson City; two brothers, Burgess Deyton of Clay, W.VA. and Terry Deyton of Gray; four sisters, Wilma Boggs of Gassaway, W. VA., Sheila Hamm of N.East, MD., Dorothy Goodin and Irma Jean Delph both of Gray; a grandson, Billy Mayberry of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Morris - Baker Funeral Home on Saturday, January 6, 2007 and an opportunity to express ones feelings and respect will be offered at 6:45 p.m. Mr. Deyton is to be cremated.
