William Rigby Kind

MGYSGT. William Rigby Kind, age 82, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Sgt. Kind was a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was the son of the late William Rigby Kind and Edith Carter Kind. In addition to his parents, one daughter, Cynthia 'Cindi'? Kind, also preceded him in death. Sgt. Kind was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran, having served from 1945 until 1974. He then taught Marine Corps Junior R.O.T.C. at Daniel Boone High School from 1974 until 1994. He was a member of the Boones Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Earlean Lawson Kind of the home; four sons, William R. Kind III and his wife Mimi of Bristol, Randall Kind and his wife Debbie of Johnson City, Ronald R. Kind and his wife Denise of Johnson City and Richard L. Kind and Lisa of Johnson City; one sister, Alice Levett of New Orleans; eleven grandchildren, Kacy Kind, Brandon Kind, Jaclyn Brooks, Cami Kind, Caroline Bauguess, Ryan Kind, Maddie Kind, Kelsey Kind, Kyndal Kind, Shelby Kind, and Palmer Kind; two great grandchildren, Olivia Brooks and Harper Bauguess. The funeral services for William Rigby Kind will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Boones Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Kenneth Kyker will officiate. Special music will be provided by Carmen Cook and Brad Rouse. The entombment service will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at Boones Creek Baptist Church prior to the service. Those who wish to contribute gifts in lieu of flowers may do so by donating to the Alzheimers Association of Washington County, the Wounded Warriors Project, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots, or the Boones Creek Baptist Building Fund.
