William Walter 'Bill'? Rowell, 59, of Johnson City died Thursday, December 4, 2014 at his home. He was a native of Montgomery, Alabama, son of the late William Bancroft Rowell and Marjorie Whitley Rowell. Bill was a graduate of Auburn University where he attained both his undergraduate degree and his Masters in Engineering. He was a mechanical engineer for the Eastman Chemical Company for 34 years. Bill was a lifetime student of the sciences and mathematics. He attended the Wesley United Methodist Church. Bill was a member of: ASQ, ASME, Society for Natural Philosophy, MAA and a lifetime member of the Auburn Alumni Association. Survivors include his wife, Karen Rowell and his daughter, Diana Rowell both of Johnson City; his mother, Marjorie Rowell of New Iberia, LA; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Kerri Rowell also of New Iberia, LA; a sister-in-law and her husband, Laura and Jeff Martin of Murfreesboro, TN; a brother-in-law and his wife, Mark and Rebecca Harris of Huntsville, AL; six nieces and nephews, Abbie Stanley, Tate Rowell, Errin Rowell, Sara Martin, Rachel Martin and Samuel Harris. A celebration of life service will be conducted at Meadowview in the Cattails room at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2014. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm. Rev. Sharon Amstutz will conduct the service. Honorary pallbearers will be: David Lee, Jim White, Ball Daffron, Curtis Huff, Paul Lawrence and Gina Valk; also all the group leaders Bill trained during his career.
