Willie Frances Cox Rich, 2016 Sherwood Drive #115, Johnson City was called home to be with her Lord on Monday, March 17, 2008 in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late E. B. Cox, Sr and Maude Alley Cox. Willie was born in Kingsport, Tennessee on April 30, 1921, and has been living in Johnson City since 1943. She was an active member of Central Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years. She was a charter member of the Johnson City Gideon Camp Auxiliary and President of the Tennessee Gideon Auxiliary and an officer of the Altrusa Club. Willie was married to Charles Herbert Rich, Sr at the Euclid Avenue Baptist Church of Bristol, Virginia, on June 28, 1940, by her brother-in-law, Dr. Howard T. Rich. Willie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles H. Rich, Sr; one brother, E. B. Cox, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Sylvia Jean Robinson, of Pensacola, FL. Survivors include: a son, Charles H. Rich, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Johnson City; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Rich McMackin and her husband, James L. McMackin, of Crossville; three grandchildren, Robert Charles Rich and his wife, Kimberly of Bradenton, Florida, Julie Ann McMackin of Seattle, Washington, and James P. McMackin and wife, Karen, of Johnson City; seven great grandchildren, Shannon and Garrett Robinson, Jacob and Joshua McMackin, Austin and Ethan Rich and Sebastian Khongsavanh; two sisters, Mary Cox Pippin of Bristol, VA and Ruth Cox Keller of Bristol, TN; several nieces and nephews. A celebration service will be held at Morris-Baker Funeral Home March 19, 2008 at 3:00 PM under the direction of Dr. Ron Murray. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of service. Burial will follow on Thursday, March 20 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol, VA. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 8:45 AM to leave in procession. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the Johnson City Gideons, P.O. Box 372 Mountain Home, TN 37684. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
