Lt. Col. Wilson A. 'Bill'? Hayden, U.S. Army, Retired, age 94, of Johnson City, died Monday, January 28, 2013, at his residence and is now with Jesus. Lt. Col. Hayden was an Owensboro, KY native and a son of the late Maurice A. and Beatrice Hayden. Lt. Col. Hayden was a World War II and the Korean War retired veteran '? having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Lt. Col. Hayden was a member of the 63rd Infantry Division Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3382, and the Reserve Officers Association, Johnson City. Following his active duty retirement, Lt. Col. Hayden served twenty-two years as the head administrator of the Army Reserves Armory in Johnson City. He was an active member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Dennis and Alvin Hayden, sister, Rita H. Thompson. Survivors include: his wife of sixty-one years, Dolores Lambert Hayden, of the home; two daughters, Kathy White, and her husband, Marty, Johnson City, and Sharon P. York, and her husband, Joshua, Johnson City; brother, Robert Earl Hayden, San Angelo, TX; one sister-in-law, Frances Hayden, Owensboro, KY; and four grandchildren, Amaris and Hunter White, and Victoria and Zoe York, all of Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unaka Avenue Baptist Church, 1213 E. Unaka Ave., Johnson City, TN 37601.
