Winfred Earl Kissinger

May 25, 1930 — June 7, 2009

Fred Kissinger, 79, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2009 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Scott County , Illinois and a son of the late Elbert Winfred and Jesse Ellen Kissinger. He was also preceded by his wife, Virginia Hines Kessinger, two brothers, Edward and Eugene Kissinger, and one sister, Betty Wilson. Mr. Kessinger was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Johnson City.He was retired from the U. S. Navy with 22 years of service. During his last years with the Navy, Mr. Kessinger served on the USS Intrepid. After retiring from the Navy he served as an installation supervisor for Tri-City Air Conditioning.Survivors include; a brother in law Gene Arrowood and his wife, Lorene of Johnson City; a special friend and caretaker, Bill DeGroate of Johnson City; four nieces and two nephews, Donald Potter, Dr. Andrew Ward, Carol Arrowood, Dee Dee Ward, Emily Ward and Margaret Phillips; several other nieces and nephews in Illinois. Services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. Kessingers brother in law, 3 Mr. Gene Arrowood will officiate. Burial services will be conducted at the U. S. National Cemetery at Mountain Home on Wednesday at 11:00 am. A procession will leave Morris-Baker at 10:30 on Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
